Founders

Selcuk Atli is an Endeavor entrepreneur, a Fulbright scholar, and a song writer. Atli focused on personalization and e-commerce and co-founded iletken, a SaaS-based recommendation engine for online retailers. Atli did graduate studies as a Fulbright scholar at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with Dr. James Hendler, originator of the semantic web. He holds a B.S. in computer science from Koc University in Istanbul where he graduated as valedictorian. Atli is a singer-song writer and has performed with a number of bands in New York, Milan, and Istanbul.

Alexander Chang served as Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of New York City based Social Amp prior to it's acquisition in early 2012. He currently acts as Vice President of Social at Merkle, the largest privately-held customer relationship marketing agency in the U.S. In 2007, Alex caught the entrepreneurial bug and joined Daylife, where he worked on Daylife's consumer facing products. During his time there, Alex played a key role in building the Facebook Developer community in New York. Alex is well-recognized in the Facebook developer community and is an on-going contributor to think-tank and start-up projects such as The Hotlist.

So the marketplaces do the legwork of recommending Boostable’s ads to their sellers, the ads drive sales, and everyone makes money. Ideally, these drive sales ROI-positive sales for the sellers, which earn fees for the marketplace, and Boostable takes a cut. Marketplaces sell them for it. Boostable doesn’t have to sell its ads. So why wouldn’t the marketplaces just build these ad tools so they don’t have to share a cut with Boostable?

YC-Backed Boostable Offers A New Way For Online Sellers To Advertise

“Our Udemy instructors — sellers on our marketplace — are our best marketers,” said Udemy co-founder and CEO Eren Bali in a press release. Boostable, which is part of the current class of startups at Y Combinator, says it’s giving the individual sellers on online marketplaces a smarter way to promote themselves. Boostable ads currently run on Facebook, and they can be targeted using the social network’s data. Boostable, on the other hand, has integrated with various marketplaces to offer these sellers “a massively simple solution,” Atli said. However, co-founder and CEO Selcuk Atli (pictured) said that many of those sellers “don’t have the time or the expertise” to actually do so.
